Nick is from New Zealand, Jess is from China and they met and fell in love in Australia. After getting engaged in Melbourne they decided to visit Nick’s family in New Zealand and go on a bit of an adventure to show Jess our beautiful country. What better way to explore the south island than whilst doing your pre wedding shoot 🙂

I met Nick and Jess in Lake Tekapo bright and early with the intentions of a sunrise shoot, however the weather had other plans for us, with the fog being some of the thickest I have ever seen, no problem though after a very slow drive we found a beautiful spot where the sun was just coming up and lighting up everything with the most spectacular golden glow thanks to the fog.

We made our way south from Lake Tekapo hoping the fog would clear, but even by Lake Pukaki it was still fairly thick. We decided to risk it and make the drive into Mt. Cook and I am so glad we did, when we came around the last bend the cloud seemed to melt away behind us and Mt. Cook was standing there all glorious and majestic!

I had such a good time travelling around with Nick and Jess, they are such beautiful genuine souls. No matter what the day threw at them (broken down van, 1 location blocked off, lots of fog and cloud) they still smiled and laughed throughout the whole day, and were totally up for anything. We had such a good laugh, and even planned the names for our chickens, as we both dream of urban gardens complete with chickens and bees! We meandered our way down the south island stopping any where that looked amazing on our way down to Queenstown. I have to say I may have jumped for joy when I suggested a random spot on the Lindis pass I personally call the “river of trees” and they totally rocked it!!

Thanks to Nick and Jess for being such amazing souls and for such a brilliant day!

Thanks to Jess’s amazing friend who gifted her, the beautiful gown she wore.

Thanks to Imageworks Tekapo for the amazing job on Jess’s hair and makeup.
